Just another update.

It's going to be a short 2008 summer! Projects are underway ~ Everyone is working very hard to complete as much as they can before the kids come back.

We have new contractors this year, mowing and trimming. The plowing contract has gone out to bid, as the last contracts have expired. The Gym Floor at Nokomis High School will be getting a face lift and will be ready for kids when they return in August! Driveway additions to Newport Elementary and Nokomis should be done before the end of July. Communication systems at Corinna and Hartland Consolidated are in the "works". All of the schools will be receiving some "sprucing up" work, as the weather allows.

A thank you goes to all the MSAD#48 staff that helped clean out their classrooms and spaces for "summer cleaning" to occur. It is greatly appreciated and makes everyone's job a little easier.

The district is very proud if it's staff and it's kids. We all can make a difference when we work together and it shows !! A sincere acknowledgment and thank you to those of you who took home small "energy eaters" in an effort to help us be a safer and more efficient district!

Enjoy the summer~ stay safe~ look forward to seeing you all again real soon!

Making Progress

We are pleased to announce that we are moving in a "greener" direction. The schools in MSAD #48 are using up old cleaning products like bleach, amonia and windex, and replacing with new more environmentally friendly cleaning products. We are trying out the greener paper products, looking at standardizing trash can liners to reduce plastic waste and plan to make "recycle" an every day word for every one! We are striving to make better environments for all who enter the buildings - for school, work, play and/or community events.
There seems to be a real good effort by everyone to make this move forward. A BIG Thanks, as it will take everyone to make this happen!

Kudos to the Maintenance and Custodial Staff District Wide

Once again, summer projects are wrapping up just in time for kids to get back to school. We are always excited about the projects we have completed!! You may notice things like driveway improvements and repaired roofing. You may not notice window and door replacements and continued safety upgrades.

The schools are shining and it's all because of a caring bunch of people employed by the taxpayers of the District. MSAD #48 is intent on creating a healthier environment for occupants of each building. We have been diligently working on replacing our existing cleaning chemicals with environmentally friendly cleaning products as well as looking at other aspects of "Green".

As always, we welcome your comments on all issues and will try to answer your questions to the best of our ability. Have a great school year, and please...... "blog" with us!!! :)
